Doing business differently: “Learn to navigate the ecosystem”
The “Doing business differently” laboratory-workshop offered by the Masters in Humanities and Management at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense meets one of the central objectives of CréaTIC – and higher education: the employability of students and its new forms. This is a dive into a completely networked ecosystem that can be nothing but beneficial for students as they approach their professional life.
The concept of entrepreneurship has recently arrived into the academic world, finding its place, and raising, in particular, the question of the student-entrepreneur status. This workshop’s main objective is to strengthen the links between the academic community and the ecosystem of entrepreneurship.
“Networking all these stakeholders, creating a synergy”
Then, at a more local level, it is about bringing together students with their ecosystem: discovering stakeholders who can help launch a business project (Institutions, associations, professional networks, etc.). In particular, the team works with the Pépite Pon incubator, a partner of both Paris 8 and Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense.
Digital technology is not – always – at the heart of student projects, this is not about an incubator for startups focused on digital issues. Sometimes yes, but the majority of people use digital technology as a lever for transforming more traditional businesses.
“How is a business created?”»
Several phases of work in the workshop, the first being delivered to all students in order to raise awareness. This is to enable all students to have an opportunity to reflect on and explore entrepreneurship, and the multiple associated professions and statuses: entrepreneur, freelancer, casual workers, etc. Important bases at the time of “personal branding” when everyone must know how to sell, monetize their skills and when the wage goes down, fording you yourself to create new forms. Above all, this phase allows them to meet people who can support them in each of the fields with which the entrepreneur is inevitably faced, in order to answer a very difficult question: “how can support be provided effectively?”».
Finally, for students who have already completed projects, the second phase becomes more concrete with training in business plans and project management. This is going on right now and we are looking forward to some fantastic #CréaTIC projects in the coming months and some candidates at Young Enterprise Creation 2016 with Paris&co.
