Externalised laboratory-workshops 2014-2015
From dictatorship to democracy: transition, memory and judgement
The laboratory workshop, From dictatorship to democracy: transition, memory and judgement, is a component of the Master’s in Philosophy and Contemporary Cultural Criticism taught at Paris 8 University.
This workshop introduces theoretical and methodological questions on memory focusing on the issue of dictatorship in Haiti between 1957 and 1986 under the Presidency of François and then Jean-Claude Duvalier.
The purpose of this workshop is to bring together the historical and political discourse with the phenomenon of extreme violence and what it conceals. It will allow for observation and identification of traces of past events in the urban, periurban or off centre topography, to collect memories of stakeholders, witnesses or victims and support the production of testimonies of dictatorship. Finally, students will be invited to partake in creative writing and to use their creative skills to create bridges acting as memories of experiences.
The workshop is organised in 3 phases :
• Phase 1 : Investigation into the memory of the Haiti dictatorship
• Phase 2 : Writings, representations and memories of extreme violence
• Study days: Judicial, political and historical recitals
Around ten or so students from CréaTIC took part in this workshop held in Port-au-Prince, under the pedagogical and scientific aegis of Stéphane Douailler and Françoise Simasotchi.
This initiative was also the chance to consolidate the official partnership we have concluded with the Foundation Connaissance et Liberté – Fokal – and to bolster the presence of CréaTIC in Haiti.
Archives in Italy: the case of Roman
The laboratory workshop, Archives in Italy: the case of Roman, s a component of the Master’s archives jobs, taught at Paris 8 University.
In a context of internationalisation of research and economic and cultural globalisation, archivers should also have knowledge about operation of foreign archives, so as to bolster their skills and encourage their professional insertion.
Pedagogical and scientific support by Marie-Cécile Bouju and Marie-Anne Matard-Bonucci, students from the Archives in Italy: the case of Roman laboratory workshop discovered Rome over a period of five days. On the agenda were visits to public and private archives in the Italian capital: Archivio Centrale dello Stato; Istituto Gramsci; Archivio Vaticano; Archivio dell’Istituto storico della Resistenza; Archivio del Senato; Archivio della Camera dei deputati …
The collective work of students during this academic trip will be presented to a Board of Examiners in March 2015.
Post-digital book: scientific digital creation and publishing
The laboratory workshop entitled Post-digital book: scientific digital creation and publishing, is a component on several of the Master’s programmes taught at Paris 8 University: Analysis and promotion of digital uses; Digital: challenges and technologies; Digital creation and publication.
This workshop offers the chance to implement an ecosystem of experimental information around collaborative scientific writings. The purpose is to produce editorial objects in relation to the issue of research, scientific events and innovative tools. For this first year, students followed the international scientific symposium entitled “Digital documents: augmented reality books”, jointly organised by the laboratory CITU-Paragraphe, Geriico and IDEFI-CréaTIC.
On 19 and 20 November 2014, under the pedagogical and scientific support of Samuel Szoniecky, Arnaud Laborderie and Gaëtan Darquié, students worked on three focus areas: writing, reading and collaboration around digital documents.
